Alpine Adulation by Phil Hanson
Alpine Adulation by Phil Hanson
Limited Edition Signed Print ‘Alpine Adulation’ by Phil Hanson
On a chilly June afternoon, my wife and I explored the Turoa area, as there had been a lot of cloud and rain but we suddenly saw some gaps in the weather. We explored the area near the Massey University Alpine Club Hut (see location to the right). On the short road to the hut, the clouds blew over for just long enough for us to take in this magnificent view. The temperature was around 4 degrees, but the windchill factor made it much colder. You can see the effects of the wind in the grass tussocks in the foreground.
On July 19, 2020, Phil's son Aaron was in a serious accident on Muriwai Beach where he suffered a traumatic brain injury. The Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopters came to his aid and provided the critical care necessary to get him to hospital.
About the artist: Phil’s paintings are collected extensively by local and international buyers. He paints in a distinctive and realistic style and pays special attention to a realistic colour palette that is essentially New Zealand.
